Displaying and protecting your bonsai

I'd like to open a discussion on how people display their bonsais in the summer and protect them from dogs/rabbits/kids/sun/wind.

Did you buy benches/tables? Where?

Did you build your own benches? How and with what materials?

What do your displays look like (can you share a picture)?

I have mine on benches, about 2 feet off the ground. They were home-made, with some pine boards, left over from palettes discarded at work. They're rough looking I admit, but they work.

I situate them according to the requirements of the plant. If it's a shade lover, like hemlock, I put the bench under my silver maple. The pines go in full sun (actually, it's facing east on the western fence face, so about 8 hours is all they get).

To support them against wind, I wire them to the bench.

Rabbits don't last long in my yard: my two jack russell terriers gobble them up pretty quickly.
